NYCC 2025 gives us a first look at the new Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series

Arriving on the cusp of the historic sci-fi franchise’s 60th anniversary in 2026, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy arrives in January.

Star Trek fans at New York Comic-Con 2025 got a first look at the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series, set to take flight on Paramount+ in January 2026. The official trailer is chock full of fresh new faces (some might say a next generation) alongside a surprising number of familiar faces from Hollywood and the Star Trek universe.

And when it comes to star talent new to the franchise, we will find Holly Hunter the conn and Paul Giamatti wearing the rumpled forehead of Trek’s latest villain with a grudge against either Hunter or Starfleet as a whole. It might take a few watches of the trailer below to figure it out. Like I have to tell a Star Trek fan to re-watch the trailer and tap through and scrutinize every second of this video.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy arrives on Paramount+ January 15, 2026.
