Johnny Depp is Ebenezer in the 2nd trailer for the Scroogiest movie of the holidays

We haven’t seen him since he was roaming the streets of San Diego during Comic-Con 2026 (fully in character the whole time), but the latest trailer for the latest retelling of the classic Charles Dickens tale “A Christmas Carol” has arrived, giving us another look at Johnny Depp in the eponymous role.

George C Scott. Classic. Patrick Stewart. Absolutely. Michael Caine. Forever. But Johnny Depp? This is a bit out of left field. It’s apparent that he’s taking the character into more of a comedic direction than his predecessors. Meanwhile, everything else in this film literally screams horror story. Sure, “A Christmas Carol” has always been a ghost story more than a cheery yuletide tale, but the pull between horror and humor will have to be working overtime to make a manageable balance for audiences. It feels like it won’t be holding back either way.

See for yourself…

Ebenezer arrives in theaters November 13th and stars Johnny Depp, Ian McKellen, Rupert Grint, Sam Claflin, Andrea Riseborough, Tramell Tillman, and Daisy Ridley (as a strangely absent-named character).
