It was inevitable. If there wasn’t going to be a reboot of the US version of The Office, there had to be a spinoff. There’s just too much money on the table when it comes to the perpetually bingeable fan-favorite series to let it just go away forever.
So while the original series characters at Dunder Mifflin were sold paper and office supplies, the characters of The Paper are the inexperienced staff of a struggling local newspaper, led by a well-meaning new manager hoping to make a difference. What I find most fun is that boss being played by Domhnall Gleeson, who played the incredibly high-strung and obsessively irate jackbooted General Hux in the most recent Star Wars sequel trilogy. The vibe between the two characters couldn’t be more different. And yes, I know he played an elder Weasley brother in the Harry Potter franchise, but that was a long time ago.
Here’s our first sneak peek at the new Peacock series, complete with the surprise appearance of a familiar face who is part of the main cast and knows all too well what happens when you spend a decade having your office space filmed by a documentary crew (sorry, the thumbnail will probably give it away if you’re even a passing fan of The Office).
