Tom Holland slips on a brand new Spidey suit to take on a Brand New Day in Spider-Man’s life with some subtle nods to the past.
Normally when Marvel and/or Sony starts filming on a new film, especially with their flagship superhero, Spider-Man, it’s a closed set draped in layers of secrecy. But this time, the cameras have started rolling in an unusual place – Scotland – to play the part of New York City. After filming much of Spider-Man: No Way Home indoors due to COVID, it’s been a liberating experience for the cast and crew have Tom swinging out in the streets, in full site of the locals kept at bay at the edge of the location.
Fans are lining to the streets to greet English actor Tom Holland don a brand new set of stretchy tights… or are they? If you look at it closely, Tom’s spandex shares elements with the two previous Sony Spider-Man costumes. You don’t have to look too closely to see the raised webbing style of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man suit and the elongated legs of the spider on Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man suit. It’s a fun little tribute to the Spider-Men of those other realities that definitely had an influence on Peter in the last film, especially now that those guys are likely the only people in any reality that remember who he is.
So far, this is the only REAL official information available from the film despite plenty of rumors swirling about villains and costars and an endless barrage of fake trailers crammed with crappy AI (please avoid those stupid things). However, there are plenty of cell phone footage to be found online from the crowds who got to see the filming, but nothing that contains any character or story spoilers. If you can, just hold off until you see something officially released by Marvel and Sony before you believe anything you see or hear.
