D23 Brazil had much to share on the Marvel front this year with the release of two new trailers for Marvel Studios films coming in 2025.
Anthony Mackie steps behind the shield for the fourth Captain America titled film, facing off against none other than Harrison Ford taking on the role of General Ross, previously portrayed by the late William Hurt. Oh, and he’s the Red Hulk too, in case you didn’t notice that part. There’s more going on in this trailer than what you might see upon first glance, so you might want to give this a closer look. Or avoid it altogether, because SPOILERS! (as if there haven’t been enough released already)
Then there’s the Thunderbolts* (yes, that asterisk is important – we just don’t know WHY just yet). If you know the history of the Thunderbolts in the comics, then you have a hint of what to expect from this team of former and current “bad guys” stepping up to do a job the Avengers wouldn’t dare touch. From everything shown here, it’s not the same story as it appeared in the comics (obvious due to all of the characters being completely different than in the comics – and yes I know there have been MANY iterations of the team). Plus, their identities pretty obvious to the viewers, except maybe “Bob”. But longtime Marvel comics readers already know who he is, but might not know how they’ll use him. So, yes, there’s a lot going on here. And, to me, that’s a good thing.
Both look like a lot of fun, with Captain America being the more intense one and likely having a tremendous impact on the Thunderbolts* film that will help shape what that little asterisk is all about.
Captain America: Brave New World lands in theaters February 14th, 2025.
Thunderbolts* strikes a screen near you May 2, 2025.
